When are the cable and phone companies going to get their act together?

Right now, I have a cable bill which includes my internet service. I also have a phone bill. And I have a cell-phone bill.

When will a unified service provider step forward? Here’s what I want.

I want to be able to call people from my wireless phone anywhere, anytime, without paying per call. My wireless phone will make calls over the internet (VOIP) and 911 will be able to triangulate my position should I need to make an emergency call. EVERYONE will have their own personal phone. This would enable people to ditch their standard telephone service.

I want to be able to watch any TV show or movie at any time with as few commercials as possible. Pre-recorded entertainment should be available on demand. The first two times a show is broadcast, commercials would be aired, and the viewer would not have to pay to watch. After the initial two broadcasts, commercials during a show should be entirely eliminated (a small set of pre-show commercials could help defray costs if necessary), and the viewer would pay 5 to 10 cents per hour of entertainment. Movies could be broadcast in their original format (no edits or cuts) for a low price too – maybe $0.49 to $0.99 per movie? The service provider would of course be allowed to have a fair monthly fee to maintain the service.

The first provider to offer me everything on one bill will be the winner.
